At Rooted Training our focus is pedagogical and curricular. Rooted training workshops provide opportunities for educators to explore strategic areas around equity and inclusion.
Our training supports educators to strengthen their classroom practices by focussing on educational equity, student engagement, assessment and outcomes.
Rooted Training create and deliver training to educators to support the learning of children and young people with English as an Additional Language (EAL) across all key stages in school.
This has included working closely with parents and the wider community to enable EAL pupils to develop positive identities so they feel equipped to deal with learning challenges.
Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic children including empowering practitioners through providing coaching and training.
We are a dedicated group of individuals who collectively have over 50 years of experience in ensuring that pupils with English as an additional language (EAL) are empowered to achieve the best outcomes possible.
We are passionate about ensuring these children meet their potential. As some Local Authorities do not provide this service to education, we have decided to offer this provision to schools.
Our mission is to inspire and support inclusive and reflective teaching approaches that create engaging learning experiences for all students.
• Training staff in best practices for teaching students who have English as an additional language (EAL), including lesson planning and assessment
• Providing information on the value of diversity with an awareness of multiculturalism and cultural competency within the context of education
Workshops on understanding the needs and enhancing the learning of pupils with English as an additional language (EAL)
EAL learners can face barriers to learning which can hinder their achievement. Our workshops equip educators to address these barriers and give them the tools to create an EAL friendly classroom which would enhance quality first teaching for all learners.
These workshops help educators to understand some of the issues faced by pupils new to English in educational settings, and how to assess and plan for their needs. Educators will acquire practical strategies to enable pupils new to English to settle into school, participate, begin to learn English and achieve in lessons.
These workshops help educators better understand how to plan and address the learning needs of pupils who require support in developing fluency in academic language.
Educators will be provided with opportunities to:
• Address the challenges of literacy across the curriculum
• Explore evidence based practice that will support advanced bilingual learners
A short term change I will make to my practice: use of vocab sheets and pre-teaching for new vocab.
